Week 1- Finding the Entrepreneurial Spirit
Week 1 👏
July 26, 2023
Today is Wednesday and it is the middle of the first week. I am already feeling overwhelmed with the amount of work due this week. Although it is a lot, I have already learned so much about the entrepreneurial spirit. My dad is an entrepreneur and that is partly my inspiration for taking this class. One thought that struck me from one of the videos this week was that all humans are entrepreneurs. Humans started out in caves and look how far we have come now! We had to figure out planting, harvesting, transportation, sewing, time and everything in between. I cannot imagine the spirit and dedication of entrepreneurs such as the Wright brothers or Steve Jobs. We all have it in us, we just need to find it and then create something! That video also made me think about how we all have the ability to change our circumstances. If we don't like our current job, we have the power to create something new and find our passions! I think I am still working on finding my passion. I'm not quite there but I hope that by the time I have graduated I will have found what I want to pour my time and energy into.
I have also been pondering on Elder Bednar's council of "avoiding the path of least resistance". I have to admit, I have chosen this path before. Especially when looking for easy elective courses. But, I think this council can also apply outside of school. Finding a job, buying a home and serving in a church calling are things that will take all of our energy and devotion at times. We should be completely devoted to the things that are important to us. Finding the easy way out isn't always the best option. You don't want to be known as the person who always cuts corners or looks for shortcuts. Take pride in your work and give it your best.
